Dedicated environmental bodies look to monitor and protect the environment from human degradation forces. These bodies may be governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations, charity or trust.
Global environmental organizations focus on pollution, waste, human overpopulation, climate change, plastic pollution and resource depletion. Here are some of the global bodies that take care of the environment.
Earth System Governance Project
This body officially began working in 2009. It has a network of about 2,300 scholars and ca. 300 from all over the earth. The global research alliance is the biggest social science research connection in the global and governance field. The environmental body looks to examine air pollution, water conservation, desertification, soil degradation and waste treatment.
Global Green Growth Institute
This organization provides research for green growth plans to countries. The headquarters of this organization is in Seoul, South Korea. This is an intergovernmental body that was formed in 2010. It was formed to campaign for green economic growth which simultaneously addresses job creation, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and poverty reduction.
United Nations Environment Program
This is the body responsible for coordinating environmental responses in the United Nations system. The environmental body is tasked with developing solutions on marine management, terrestrial ecosystems, green economy and climate change.
